“This place sucks ”
I took my girlfriend to this hotel, suppose to be a 5 star resort' We stayed 8 nights out of a 2 week holiday. The food was so bad we hardly ate, was suppose to be adult only and was over run with kids.\Our trip ended bad when my friend hooked up with one of the entertainers on the beach. Be careful of them they are very aggressive toward white females. It cost me a good relationship so be aware.
“Stay away from Building 10!!!! Sunwing Contest Winners BEWARE!!!”
****MAKE SURE TO STAY IN BUILING 27 or one close to it*****
Firstly we won this trip with a radio station. We attempted to upgrade the room prior to going however Sunwing Promotions informed us the we would have to contact the hotel directly....an email to the hotel went unanswered.
Upon arrival at the hotel front desk (12:15am) I briefly asked about a room upgrade and late checkout but with the line of check in people behind us there was only quick answers of $20/night for a room upgrade and a $30/late check out and we were ASSURED that room 1063 that was prepared for us was ?Very Good?. The porter who took us to the room also said the exact same that this room was ?Very Good?. This was our 10th trip to the Carribean and I have been to many destinations and this was the WORST room I have ever seen. From stained sheets / stained comforter / stained towels / stained walls / disgustingly dirty lampshades / shirt left in closet / absolutely the worst room I have EVER seen and a 2 star at best. We called the front desk and were told that they could not do anything until the morning.
The next morning we went to the front desk and were informed that the $20/night would be the same room as we currently have but there was a room that we would definitely be happy with but it would be $100/night. We went to see the room 2784 and it had to be the best room in the hotel (4 star at best) so we decided to pay the $600 US since there was no way were spending another night in that other room. This new room still required 3 service calls with a safe / shower / toilet issues. Upon speaking with others in building 27 we were surprised to hear that they had booked with Sunwing but they were placed in this building but we were put in building 10. There were also people who were travelling within Cuba that booked directly with the hotel that were given better rooms than what we received originally.
This hotel / service / food as a whole is below average and a rating of POOR at best. The Cuba beach/water as usual were excellent.
I wrote to Sunwing Promotions regarding a 2 tier system with contest winners being given lower quality rooms but I have not heard back from them after 2 months.
