Designed by architect Les Furber, President of the Canadian Golf Design Services Ltd (GDS) company, the Varadero Golf Club (18 holes, par 72) occupies a 3.5 km long tretch of land which borders Meliá Las Américas, Golf & Suites Resort, SuperClubs Varadero, LTI Tuxpan and Bella Costa, Meliá Varadero and Sol Club Palmeras hotels.
A facility built with varios design styles: classical, with wide streets delimited by trees, wide and protected greens; a challenging design or Target Golf, modern style with narrow streets and well protected greens, surrounded by sand traps and lagoons, and links design, with holes by the sea, including sea as another hazard in the game. It has several sea-water lakes which directly communicate with the sea, a particular feature, which makes it almost unique in the world. The golf course can be perfectly
divided into two well limited zones: first half, holes 1 to 9, which we can considered as the easier one, an be the second, holes 10 to 18, in which stand out for their complexity 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18 holes. Allowing golfers to combine al the technical elements as he pleases.
The quality of the practicing areas's structure (300 m for long game, 2 putting greens, 1 shipping green, 2 bunkers) allows to develop instruction in roofed areas. It has been the venue on two ocassions of the European Challeger Tour Grand Finale and the AUDI Golf Cup of Spain. The Varadero Golf Club is 35 km away from Varadero Airport and around 140 km from Havana.

Varadero Golf Club
It is a privileged field, plced in where it was the old field in the property that belonged to the North American magnate Irenee Dupont in Varadero, recently enlarged to 18 holes and outbidden according to the Canadian experts design, constructed under a careful tecnic supervition. The sea always al its side by the north and the south, is the loyal players companion and in not so few stick hits, its worse danger, its house-club mansion XanadĂº is simply fascinating. It has a restaurant,2 bars, one is a tavern "In Cave" and other in the in the upper floor, preferred by many people it has several luxious rooms and other services.

They really have to change the Honour system and have people play only 18 holes. Anyone can play continually as long as the have a cart . Makes for slow play.
